Hello! One year post-chemo, here is my weekly hair time-lapse. I took a photo every week (and am still doing so ) to see how my hair was progressing each week and give me a bit of hope for being a long-haired girly again. I haven’t had it trimmed or styled at all – I’m not a short-haired girly, I’m just passing through. This bus isn’t making any stops. So these collages are for me, but also for anyone who is anxious to see their own hair coming back and what the growth rate might be like, as I know that was something I was looking for after I finished chemo and was wondering when it would all kick in and how fast it would grow. Obviously everyone is different, hair is different styles and textures and so on, but hopefully this is helpful for someone. My pics start at week six because not much happened before then!

I found that when the chemo curls came in, adding a headband made it look more like a cute moment and less like Marv from Home Alone getting electrocuted. I even quite liked the shorter style sometimes – weeks 15, 22, 46 and 48 are my favourites. I also had a little fun with a tub of red Manic Panic in week 28, which I’m glad I experimented with, but didn’t really help in making me feel more like myself. The fringe also makes me feel not like myself, so I’m looking forward to the front and sides growing out more and it all being a similar length eventually. The back is longish, so I am enjoying having some cute pigtails some days, though I don’t have pics of those here. I think hair is so important in this experience because it’s so linked to our identities, and also because it’s symbolic of progress and getting further away from that difficult time. Anyway, here are my pics!
